Online Card Classes: CAS 3 Days 5 & 6

Well after a long weekend at work, it being a full moon and lots of new babies brought into this world, I finally got a chance to sit down today and make some cards from Friday's lessons.  The lessons focused on Backgrounds in the Foreground and it didn't disappoint.  I really loved all the lessons so I made three cards to go along with the class.  Hope you have a wonderful week.  Thank you for visiting my blog.
My first card focused on Clear Embossing and Watercoloring from Jennifer McGuire.  My attempts at watercoloring in the past have always led to disaster but I was determined to see this through to the end.  I used distress inks and water along with a paint brush and just went for it.  I am happy in the end with the final result.

My second card was inspired from Laura Bassen.  I have always loved her bright beautiful cards and of course her sillyness of her videos.  She is too cute and I just laugh when she explains her process.  Go to YouTube and check her out.  You will not be disappointed.  This is an example of masking for a plaid effect.

My third and final card was inspired by Shari Carroll.  She always is so fantastic and her process and colors she uses is just incredible.  She called this graffiti but I call it awesome.  Hope you enjoy.

Would love a comment if you have time.  Thanks for checking my cards out.

CAS 3: Days 3 & 4

Days 3 & 4 involve optical illusions.  I CASEd 2 of Jennifer McGuire's cards.  First one involves emboss resist using a mask and markers.  Second card again is masking but this time the use of a stencil and distress inks.  It provides the WOW factor when you remove the mask.  Very gorgeous and fun technique.

CAS 3: Days 1 & 2 Faux Effects

I signed up for yet another awesome class called Online Card Classes: Clean and Simple Cards 3  but have gotten a late start in the class due to life.  So here I am trying to catch up with everyone else and it's unbelievable what the students have created thus far.  Beautiful cards in every color, shape,  and techniques.  Class started on Monday, March 10th and I am just joining in on Wednesday, March 12th.  Not to far behind but have caught up today by playing in my craft room all day.

My first card was inspired by Shari Carroll using a ghost stamping technique.  Her cards always seems to come together with lots of ease and perfection.  I CASEd her card but made it my own by using different dies, papers, etc.

Using Neenah Solar White CS, I used a stencil that I have owned for years from Stampin Up! called Clouds, Stars, and Moon.  I don't even know if they even sell this anymore but it has various curvy sides to stencil clouds on paper plus stars and the moon in the middle for stenciling as well.  I used Ranger's distress ink: Salty Ocean.  Secondly, I paper pieced strip of papers from BoBunny called Double Dots: Soft Subtles in orders to die cut my balloons from using My Favorite Things: Party Balloons.  I also used the same papers for my strip down the right side of card.  Finished the card off by stamping in black the balloon threads and sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

My second card is CASEd off Kristina Werner's example of Faux Metal Effects.  I masked a flower punch on the card and heat embossed using silver embossing powder from Ranger.  I repeated the process twice since doing this a third time caused the embossing to show through the back of the one layered card.  It's hard to tell from the picture but I just love this effect.

I used Memento Luxe Pigment inks along with Lots of Dots stamp set.  Simple but love the clean look. The card base is from Stampin Up! in a cream color.

Happy Birthday-Two toned Stamping

Good afternoon.  Well my long week off from work is coming to a close as of Friday where I'll be heading back to work for the weekend.  Good news though I'll be off for 14 days at the end of this month as I'll be flying out to California to visit with my Mom, then fly to Georgia with my Mom to visit my family, drive to Florida to visit with my sister and great nieces and nephews.  I know it sounds like alot of driving, but my Mom loves these road trips and doesn't really get a chance to travel by herself much these days.  I am happy to do it plus as a added bonus, get to leave this cold weather and feel the wonderful sunshine for at least a week.  I am really looking forward to it.

My husband was going to have to go too, to Georgia for some work related training at the same time we'd be there, but his boss told him yesterday that the training had been cancelled.  It's a bummer and had to change our plans around but maybe another day and another trip.

Today I am sharing a card with you that Jennifer McGuire taught called Two Toned Stamping.  She was sharing some new product releases from Simon Says Stamp where she used a light shade of ink and medium to dark colored ink but removed some ink in the top left hand side of the stamp to create a two toned effect on a balloon.  I just loved the effect and wanted to give it a try.  You can click on her name above to be brought to her YouTube channel for your viewing pleasure of course.  Have a wonderful day.

Great 2014 Minnesota meltdown

Well I can officially say that spring is on it's way.  We have finally hit some warmer temperatures in the last four days that are finally melting some of the massive piles of snow around the house.  Yippee!  This has been a brutal winter for us all around and I can't wait till we are able to wear short sleeves and shorts.  It actually got up to 50 degrees yesterday with lots of sun.  It felt wonderful.  Here's a picture of the front of our house from last Friday before everything started to melt.  Some of those snowpiles were 4-5 feet high in places.

Well today I am sharing a card I made for a dear friend of mine using some Lawn Fawn products.  I think I'll be entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Tag, You're It and.clips-n-cuts.com/2014/03/inlinkz/ for signing up and using their inlinkz-project manager.  I've seen so many blogs that I visit use this program to link all the supplies they use in making cards, scrapbooks, mix media and link it back to where they can purchase these specific supplies on line.  What a great idea since I have bought many items in my stash this way.  Thank You Vicki for allowing me to try this great link.  At the bottom of my post, you will find my supplies I used to make this card.  If you would like to purchase any of these items, just click on the supply and Simon Says Stamp store will appear in order to purchase this item.  Thank you for visiting and would love to hear any comments that you may have.  Have a wonderful week with warm sun and temperatures.
